{"id":1948,"date":"2019-12-30T16:52:45","date_gmt":"2019-12-30T15:52:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/davidgomez.ovh\/eli-eli-lema-sabachthani\/"},"modified":"2022-08-26T21:03:28","modified_gmt":"2022-08-26T19:03:28","slug":"eli-eli-lema-sabachthani","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/davidgomez.ovh\/en\/eli-eli-lema-sabachthani\/","title":{"rendered":"Eli, Eli, lema sabachthani"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">About three in the afternoon Jesus cried out in a loud voice, \u201cEli, Eli, lema sabachthani?\u201d (which means \u201cMy God, my God, why have you forsaken me?\u201d) (Matthew 27:46)<\/h2>\n\n<p>When we are going through difficult trials, when tribulation strikes our life, when cold floods our soul and darkness surrounds us, it is easy to become lonely and helpless.<\/p>\n\n<p>In such circumstances, it is difficult for us to feel the presence of God, and the words of Jesus on the cross <em>&#8220;My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?&#8221;<\/em> come quickly to mind, because we feel that way.<\/p>\n\n<p>However, this is not a real thing.<\/p>\n\n<p>Jesus felt God&#8217;s abandonment because on the cross he bore all our sins, our guilt, and suffered the consequence of that guilt: separation from God.<\/p>\n\n<p>And he did it so that you would never have to feel that way again, ever.<\/p>\n\n<p>I know it&#8217;s difficult. I know it is hard and complicated to accept, but when you feel helpless remember the words of our Lord: <em>&#8220;&#8230;And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age&#8221; (Matthew 28:20)<\/em>. <\/p>\n\n<p>He will always be with you.<\/p>\n\n<div style=\"height:45px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-preformatted\"> Photo by <a
