“We can stop this together”, “I’m staying at home” or “not a single person is left behind”, are phrases that have been repeated ad nauseam to make us see that this COVID-19 pandemic has an easy solution using personal responsibility and mutual solidarity.
And we have seen a lot of applause of approval and encouragement on the balconies for weeks and weeks.
But as soon as the doors open, responsibility and solidarity disappear as if by magic, and applause and memories of the pain that many have experienced fall from our hands and hearts.
It is true that there are those who respect rules and distances, but most of them for fear of falling ill.
Only a few do it out of love for others.
Even between countries, sincere solidarity is conspicuous by its absence, and everyone looks out for their own interests.
But there is someone who looks out for our good; there is someone who gives without expecting anything in return.
And that someone is God.
He created an entire universe for us, gave us His Son to rescue us from our rebellions, and watches over each one of us every day.
So yes, of course love and solidarity are important tools to help get us out of all our problems, but none of this will be possible if God does not flood our hearts with his presence and guide us with his word.
With the great advantage that then, in addition to our strengths and possibilities, we will have God’s help and provision.
And so, in the midst of lightning and thunder, God will send abundant rains and those fresh pastures that will bring us out of our need and despair.
May God bless you
